Voor een goed dancefeest hoef je dit jaar niet de trein te pakken naar Amsterdam. En dat komt goed uit nu alle grote evenementen uit het centrum van onze hoofdstad zijn verbannen. Elevation Events – bekend van onder andere Soenda en Smeerboel - presenteert in samenwerking met diverse partijen op 2 locaties in hartje Utrecht vier dikke feesten.

Qday & night Op het plein
Op het Vredenburg zullen op 29 en 30 april de grootste namen uit de Nederlandse techno scene hun eer aan de Koningin bewijzen. Zowel tijdens Koninginnenacht als –dag ga je op het grootste plein van onze Domstad uit je plaat. Pete Bandit & Jason Shae, Bart Skils, Steve Rachmad, Anton Pieëte en Wouter de Moor trappen op Koninginnenacht het oranjefeest af Op het plein. Olene Kadar, Lauhaus, Boris Werner, Daniel Sanchez, Julien Chaptal en David Labije nemen het stokje de volgende dag over om het nog even dunnetjes over te doen.

Hou je meer van een intieme setting of loop je zoals velen tijdens deze dag het liefst rond van feest naar feest sla dan het Wijde Begijneplein zeker niet over! In de nacht wordt dit kleine plein gehost door Subculture: een organisatie met liefde en passie voor techno die bekend staat om haar evenementen van muziekliefhebbers voor muziekliefhebbers. Overdag is het de taak aan Slapfunk om er een intiem en knallend event van te maken. Van house tot techno, maar altijd grooved en funked: dat is Slapfunk!

And this weeks big news: We're very proud again to announce Joost Ruyter has joined Subculture Bookings. You can go and see Joost perform this friday at his own party called Toffe Peren @ Club Lux, Utrecht

The huge passion Joost Ruyter has got for music has been put in by his relatives in a professional way!
That he would also catch the House-virus because of this was only a matter of time. In his younger adolescent years he obviously did everything it took to get himself his own turntables and vinyls.

At the rather young age of fifteen years old Joost Ruyter had his first opportunity to show his qualities in front of a crowd.
Since that time he created his own style, a mixture of deep- and techhouse in which funk and groove are always forming the blueprint.

His uplifting and mature sound already took him to several well known locations in The Netherlands.

Also on an organizational level Joost Ruyter makes his mark in the Utrecht City nightlife as the founder and driving force behind his own "Toffe Peren" nights.

Sander Ellerman

Sander Ellerman is a House Music DJ with great Techno and Minimal influences. He was born in a small town in the Netherlands where he has always been fascinated by the nightlife and electronic music scene.

At the age of 20 he bought his first pair of turntables and a mixer, thus Sander was bothering the whole neighborhood with heavy bass drums. After a few years, a tipping point for the young DJ occurred; he got out of the comfort of his bedroom and started performing at illegal party's like Diepgezonken. At that time the Techno/Minimal wave was hitting the clubs all over Europe, and Sander was spinning his vinyls at 125 to 130 BPM.

A few years ago Sander started to make his own music. His tracks were becoming increasingly minimal and reflected a love of weird, challenging music. In 2012 he expects to release his first Ep.

With his mix of different styles – a combination and fusion of slower material, break-oriented electronic beats, melodic lines, experimental arrangements combined with organic sounds and pads – he shows his passion for music!

With steady releases and memorable gigs behind him, it's about time for Neal to join forces with Subculture Bookings to share his sounds and skills with a wider audience. Neal Evans

Born in the mid-eighties and raised in a small rural town in the Netherlands, Neal was a a guy who always stood out of the dull crowd. The only way of escaping the wretched claws of boredom he felt, was listening to Techno...Even when he was still way to young to be going to parties, he was already mixing his vinyls in his bedroom, and starting out with producing. When he was only seventeen he was already performing on venues such as Mysteryland, Sensation Black, and in the studio 80...

During the years, Neal has worked a lot on his production skills. He now has a professional studio set up near his hometown of Utrecht. After a year or so of gaining the proper knowledge, he has now been releasing for over 2 years on labels such as Kraft and Smiley Fingers. With his tracks having been in the Beatport top 100‘s, and remix offers by big labels he knows he’s on his way to fulfilling his dream of recognition as a top-techno artist. Always improving, perfecting and fine-tuning his skills, there is never an end to his progression.

With the experience of Techno veteran, but the charm of a youngster, Neal’s DJ sets and his live-act range from Tech-House to proper Techno, although the latter is closest to his heart. His epic sets have rocked many dance-floors throughout the Netherlands and are sure to give you goosebumps and face-wide grins! Wobbling bass lines, dark vocals and percussive tribal elements give his sets a constant evolving energy which takes people on a journey to insane ultimateness.

Neal has performed on before-mentioned Mysteryland and Sensation, but also on the Stubnitz and for organisations such as Schwung, Kranck, Elevation Events and Club Poema. There he played alongside the greatest names in Techno, the most memorable gigs being closing sets behind Benny Rodriguez in the Studio 80, and after Alexander Kowalski on Tegengas.

So keep your ears out for Neal Evans and support his music and gigs!

Blender is een nieuw concept van AIR en staat garant voor een mix aan talent uit de housescene van nu. Twee talentvolle organisaties uit Utrecht (Subculture en Slapfunk) en twee uit Amsterdam (Overdraven en Ongeschoren) bundelen hun krachten en hosten samen AIR1 en AIR2 op 16 maart. Elke organisatie levert 1 of 2 afgevaardigde dj's en als hoofdact staat niemand minder dan het Britse duo Audiojack op het programma.

New artist added to the roster: Rik Watts (dj & producer)

Rik Watts

Rik’s initial involvement with electronic music started in the early 90’s with his passion for hardcore. During this time Rik was travelling the world whilst working for the Dutch Navy and was coming into contact with a variety of early electronic music via the clubs and bars he frequented whilst on shore leave. He began to notice he favored the rhythmic beats of the early house and techno tracks he found himself listening to and shortly after returning from one of these foreign trips decided he wanted to experiment with these sounds for himself. Rik purchased his first belt driven turntables and mixer in 2000. Within a short period of time he became hooked and started to invest all his spare cash into vinyl from the up-and-coming dj’s of the time such as Richie Hawtin, Secret Cinema, Michel De Hey etc. As his skills progressed Rik purchased his first Technics 1200’s and Allen & Heath mixer whilst focusing more and more on the rhythmic techno sounds of the time.

In 2006 Rik entered his first djing competition the Twstd DJ contest in Amsterdam along with 145 likeminded hopefuls. Rik progressed to the last round of 14 where he performed at Club Paradiso in Amsterdam. This cemented Rik’s belief in the sound he was creating and added to his motivation to succeed. Shortly after Rik entered a local DJ contest in his hometown of Delft @ Club Speakers, which he went on to win. In the same year Rik sent his first demo mix to Partyflock which went on to be selected by Bart Skills as the best newcomer entry and resulted in Rik djing @Flockers in the Arnhem Geldedrome.

Leading on from this success Rik started hosting his own local parties in and around the Delft/Den Haag area, namely Funk You. As his sound became more noticed Rik found himself performing at larger local clubs such as Speakers in Delft & Mozaiq in Oud Beijerland. It was around this time Rik purchased his first CD mixing equipment and Macintosh based system and built his first digital home recording studio with the intention of producing his own blend of techno sounds. It was at this point Rik realized he needed to gain more knowledge on the basics of electronic and digital music production so enrolled at the School of Audio Engineering in Rotterdam, where he followed a course in Electronic Music Production. This is where he met Bas Struik, who also shared Rik’s passion for techhouse, techno and minimal techno.

Rik & Bas both graduated in 2009 and from there after started to produce their own blend of techno music. Their early collaborations started receiving appreciation from dance floors in and around NL and their first release on Phat Elephant records was released early 2011. Their double act evolved with Bas DJing (Traktor) and Rik performing live (Ableton). As a duo they performed a DJ set @ the Hall in Istanbul and @ smeerboel in Utrecht. One of their tracks has since been selected for use on the official promotional video for WTTF 2011. Latest gigs of Rik were @ Beach Club Barefoot in Scheveningen and Kranck in Utrecht.

Rik will be sometimes heard on Rebel Radio @ studio80. Gigs for 2012 are in Utrecht, Eindhoven and Amsterdam. Newest release include new tech-house material such as Pass the Test, It's a kind of funny, Loose your head & Settings on the LowEnd community label bases in Eindhoven-Netherlands.

Alessandro Diga is an upcoming artist in the Dutch music scene. He has a great passion for music, a huge perseverance and is a bit pigheaded, but those character traits made him into the artist he is. With releases on Outside the Box, DeepSessions, Buddha Music, Manual, 90Watts, Proton Particles, Lowendcommunity and Syndikaat. Alessandro sets a solid foundation to build on. His tracks know a great variety!
They range from crowd whipping techno tracks to compelling melodic tracks. His tracks are supported by: Hernan Cattaneo, Nuno dos Santos and more! He also played in some of the biggest clubs in Holland, like 'Club Watt' and 'De Poema'. His style is best described as: From funky techhouse to techno with pumping basslines.

Winter Blues / Revulsion is his 3rd release on Lowend.
Out 10 January 2012.
